Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga

गुणत्रयविभागयोग — The Three Gunas · 27 verses

Summary

All of nature is made of three qualities (gunas): sattva — purity, light and knowledge; rajas — passion, activity and craving; and tamas — inertia, darkness and delusion. They bind the soul in different ways and lead to different results. Krishna describes the person who has gone beyond the gunas: unmoved by their play, equal in pleasure and pain, praise and blame, friend and foe — reached through unwavering devotion.
