Frequently asked questions

Why are these dates different from Western astrology?

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac (Lahiri ayanamsha), which is currently about 24° behind the tropical zodiac. A planet therefore enters a sidereal sign several weeks after it enters the tropical sign of the same name. Retrograde dates are the same in both systems.

Is a retrograde planet bad?

Not necessarily. In Jyotish a retrograde (vakri) planet is considered strong and close to the Earth; its results are said to be intensified or delayed rather than simply negative.
