Prashna Kundli: a chart for your question
In Prashna, the moment a sincere question arises is treated as meaningful in itself. A chart is cast for that moment and place, and the rising sign (Lagna), its lord, the Moon and the angular houses are read for the question. Hold your question clearly in mind, choose your city, and the chart is drawn for the present moment.
How the quick read works
This page applies a handful of well-known rules of thumb from the Prashna tradition:
- The Lagna stands for you and your question. Its nature (movable, fixed or dual) hints at how quickly matters may move.
- Benefics in the kendras (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury or a bright Moon in houses 1, 4, 7 or 10) are counted among the most supportive signs.
- The Lagna lord shows your own strength in the matter, and is weaker when it falls in the 6th, 8th or 12th house.
- The Moon shows the mind and the flow of events; a bright, well-placed Moon supports a clear answer. Its nakshatra colours the question.
- The 7th house stands for the other person: a partner, the other side of a dispute or agreement, or something lost or sought.
Traditionally the question is asked once, sincerely, and not repeated to fish for a different answer. Some astrologers prefer the time when the question is first put to them; this page uses the clock time now.
A note on approach
Prashna is a traditional branch of Jyotisha that casts a chart for the moment a sincere question is asked. Readings here apply a few classical rules of thumb automatically; they describe tendencies and are offered as a reflective aid, not a prediction. A learned astrologer would weigh far more. For decisions about health, money, law or safety, please take qualified advice as well.
