Sade Sati explained

Sade Sati is the transit of Saturn (Shani) through the twelfth, first and second signs counted from your natal Moon — roughly seven and a half years in all.

The three phases

  1. Rising — Saturn in the sign before your Moon sign.
  2. Peak — Saturn in your Moon sign.
  3. Setting — Saturn in the sign after your Moon sign.

Saturn takes about 29.5 years to circle the zodiac, so Sade Sati recurs roughly every 30 years. Because Saturn appears to move backwards for several months each year (retrograde), each phase can begin, pause and resume.

Which Moon signs are in Sade Sati now?

Saturn entered sidereal Pisces on 29 March 2025. While it remains there, Sade Sati applies to Moon signs Aquarius (setting phase), Pisces (peak) and Aries (rising). Check your exact dates with the calculator, as these change at each Saturn ingress.

A balanced view

Popular accounts often present Sade Sati as a time to fear. Traditional sources are more nuanced: results are said to depend on Saturn’s placement and strength in the birth chart, the running dasha and many other factors. Many people associate their Sade Sati years with hard work and lasting achievements.
