How Gowri Panchangam works

Like Choghadiya in North India, Gowri Panchangam divides daytime (sunrise to sunset) and night (sunset to next sunrise) into eight equal parts. Each weekday has its own sequence. Amirdha, Uthi, Laabam, Dhanam and Sugam are considered good; Soram, Rogam and Visham are traditionally avoided for new work. We follow the sequences of the widely used Pambu Panchangam.
