Ayanamsa Calculator
The ayanamsa is the gap between the tropical zodiac of Western astrology and the sidereal zodiac of Vedic astrology. It grows by about 50 seconds of arc a year. Choose a date to compare the main ayanamsas used today.
Why so many ayanamsas?
All ayanamsas agree on the rate of precession but differ on the starting point — the moment the two zodiacs coincided. Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), adopted by the Government of India, is the standard on this site; KP practitioners use a slightly different value; Raman, Fagan/Bradley and Yukteshwar are used by particular schools. See our method page.
